US-based strategic advisory firm Luma Partners has launched a venture capital fund called Luma Capital Partners, Fortune reported on Friday.
Luma Capital Partners will be run by Sumeet Jain and Carey Lai, both of which were directors at Intel Capital, the corporate venturing subsidiary of semiconductor technology supplier Intel, until earlier this month.
Jain and Lai will act as general partners for the fund and will be joined by JT Batson, who had been an executive-in-residence at VC firms Accel Partners and Greylock Partners up to August 2015, as an operating partner.
Lai had been at Intel Capital since 2011 and concentrated on internet-enabled consumer and marketing services, digital media, cloud services and virally-adopted software. Jain joined Intel Capital two years later and focused on internet and mobile consumer products and services.
Luma Capital Partners has not yet raised any money, according to a securities filing on Friday, but has targeted a $100m raise. Luma itself has not disclosed its strategic plans for the fund.
