Gudeng Precision Industrial, a Taiwan-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer backed by the US-based corporate venturing unit Intel Capital, went public on Taiwan’s GreTai Securities Market, on 31 August.
Intel Capital became a backer in November 2009, investing an undisclosed amount. Gudeng is the third company in Intel Capital’s portfolio to hold an initial public offering (IPO) this year following the China-based BCD Semiconductor, in January, and the China-based news content provider Phoenix New Media in May.
Keith Larson, vice-president of Intel Capital, said: "We congratulate Gudeng Precision on the successful completion of their initial public offering. Their commitment to innovation in wafer-handling technology will help semiconductor makers to produce the chips that power a new generation of computers and mobile phones."
Bill Chiu, chairman of Gudeng Precision, added: "We are grateful for Intel’s support. Having Intel Capital as an investor helped us win new business and enhance our partnership with customers. The investment also gave us access to the resources we needed to strengthen our wafer-handling technologies.
