Intel Capital backs Mural.ly

Argentina-based free web platform Mural.ly has secured seed funding from Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of US-based semiconductor company Intel, as well as venture firms Alta Ventures, 500 Startups and several angel investors.

A reported $775,000 has been raised according to news provider TechCrunch. Mural.ly is a free web platform which create ‘murals of content’. The platform aggregates media and files in a space which resembles a bulletin board. Future funding is currently being sought to allow large scale expansion. Mural.ly has so far attracted more than 12,000 users.

Mariano Suarez Battan, chief executive of Mural.ly and co-founder, said: “We envision people from around the world using our murals collaboratively as works-in-progress, a phenomenon we call ‘social visual ideation, With Mural.ly we are leveraging the best features of video game user interfaces and mechanics and inserting them into our aggregated content murals. Our goal is to become the ‘Github of Visual Ideation’ and the clear leader in that space.
