The corporate venturing units of US-based semiconductor company Intel and Rogers Communications as well as payments companies Visa and Mastercard and other corporates, have helped SecureKey Technologies, a Canada-based mobile authentication company, raise $30m.
Intel Capital and Rogers Venture Partners were joined in the round by Discover Financial Services and TELUS Corporation.
Intel Capital led the round. Intel Corporation is working to deploy Secure Key Technology on it Intel® Identity Protection Technology (IPT) which will come out on Intel’s Ultrabook devices later in 2012.
David Flanagan, managing director, Intel Capital, said: “The serious risks of privacy violations, fraud and financial theft have significantly increased as more services requiring secure transactions are offered online. SecureKey’s next-generation authentication solutions address these risks by enhancing the security and convenience of m- and e-commerce, thereby helping to provide secure access to critical services such as online banking, e-health and e-government.”
Intel Capital also backed SecureKey last year with an undisclosed sum.
