Canada-based wearables technology producer Recon Instruments has been acquired by semiconductor maker Intel.
Intel invested an undisclosed amount in Recon in 2013 through its corporate venturing unit Intel Capital.
In April 2014, communications services provider Motorola Solutions’s corporate venturing arm Motorola Solutions Venture Capital provided an undisclosed amount, while display technology producer Kopin led a $10m series A round in 2012.
Recon produces display technology that is integrated into eyewear worn by athletes. The company will continue selling its products, and work with Intel’s New Devices Group division to develop additional products.
