Intel sees Reflektion to new funding

Intel Capital, a corporate venturing subsidiary of semiconductor technology producer Intel, has participated in a $13.5m funding round for US-based e-commerce personalisation software developer Reflektion.

The round was led by venture capital firm London Technology Club and included Clear Ventures, Battery Ventures and Hasso Plattner Ventures.

Founded in 2012, Reflektion has built artificial intelligence-driven software that allows e-commerce sites to personalise product recommendations based on real-time customer behaviour.

The funding will help the company introduce blockchain technology designed to secure its customer data. It also aims to enter adjacent sectors including grocery delivery and business-to-business e-commerce.

Intel Capital led an $8m series B round for Reflektion in 2014 that included sportswear brand Nike and undisclosed investors following a $1.5m seed round in 2012. It returned for a second $18m series B in 2016 led by Battery Ventures that also featured Hasso Plattner Ventures.

Hasso Plattner Ventures subsequently led a $12m round for the company the following year, investing together with Battery Ventures and Clear Ventures.
