US-based semiconductor company Intel’s corporate venturing unit has helped Bromium, a micro-virtualisation company, raise $26.5m.
Intel Capital was joined in the series B round, by venture firm Highland Capital Partners, which led the round, as well as other venture firms Andreessen Horowitz and Ignition Ventures.
Sean Cunningham, director of Intel Capital, said: “Advanced Persistent Threats are the Achilles heel of the enterprises security environment. Consequently, enterprise IT departments all over the world are looking for solutions to counter these daily active, targeted attacks. Bromium Micro-virtualisation helps to eliminate the proliferation of these types of threats in the client and system environment and is a strong addition to Intel’s growing ecosystem momentum.”
In 2011 Bromium raise $9.2m from venture firms Andreessen Horowitz, Ignition Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Bromium was launched in the same year.
