Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of US-listed semiconductor company Intel, has linked up again with venture capital firm Braemar Energy Ventures in a clean-tech deal.
Intel and Braemar are providing an undisclosed amount for Viridity Energy’s, a US-based developer of energy management software, series B round.
Previously, Braemar and Intel Capital invested in Grid Net, a provider of smart grid and home software to utilities and customers.
Steve Eichenlaub, a managing director of Intel Capital, said: "Viridity Energy’s technology aligns very well with Intel’s vision of smart energy management based on dynamic, real time optimization of multiple sources of information."
Audrey Zibelman, executive president of Viridity Energy, said: "Braemar’s long-standing experience in the sector, along with Intel’s deep networking domain expertise will help Viridity Energy."
Siemens is also working with Viridity, to combine Siemens’ decentralized energy management system with Viridity’s system for managing "virtual power plants", newswire Reuters said.
