Investors sail away from OceanSaver

BW Ventures, a firm investing in maritime technology, and Norwegian state-backed Investinor have agreed to buy OceanSaver, a ballast water management system for ships formerly known as Foss & Varenhed Enterprises.

OceanSaver’s previous investors include venture capital firm Energy Capital Management, retailer Storebrand and industrial groups Höegh Autoliners Management, Fednav and Sumitomo.

Stein Foss, chief executive of OceanSaver, said BW and Investinor had committed NKR200m ($33.5m) to expanding the company.

Arne Frøiland, partner of Energy Capital Management, said: "We are pleased that the new owners will provide the company with required growth capital and access to new industrial markets. To date and through the venture capital stage, Energy Capital Management has managed Statoil’s ownership in OceanSaver."
