Iris boards Mailjet for $11m series B

France-based marketing email service Mailjet has raised $11m in series B funding from investors including Iris Capital, the venture firm backed by telecommunications firm Orange and marketing company Publicis, TechCrunch reported yesterday.

The round also included VC firms Alven Capital and Seventure Partners. Alven previously took part in the $3.3m round closed by Mailjet in 2012 and a subsequent $3m round in March 2014. Startup studio eFounders initially provided it with $300,000 in seed capital.

Founded in 2010, Mailjet operates an emailing service that combines mass marketing campaigns and transactional emails directed at single customers. It currently sends out around 600 million emails each month for a total of about 32,000 clients.

Mailjet intends to use the funding to increase its headcount to 100 by the end of 2015, as it seeks to extend its service from the smaller companies it has traditionally worked with to larger business customers.
