Semiconductor and data technology producer Intel led an $18m series B round for US-headquartered video data software provider Iris.TV yesterday through corporate venturing unit Intel Capital.
Intel was joined by Wise Ventures, Quest Venture Partners, Mirae Asset Venture Investment and private investors including Mike Baker, Mike Shehan and Ari Paparo.
Iris.TV offers software that allows users such as publishers, broadcasters and the operators of connected television apps to pool third-party data from a range of sources and unify it without compromising privacy.
Marcelino Ford-Livene, managing director at Intel Capital, said: “Iris.TV is uniquely positioned to capitalise on the tremendous growth in online video viewership and the attendant need for brands and publishers to better monetise existing content in a connected TV world.”
The company raised $1.7m from assorted angel investors in 2013 before adding $5.3m in series A funding from Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, a subsidiary of media group Bertelsmann, as well as Sierra Wasatch, Progress Ventures and various individuals.
