IronScales, an Israel-based cybersecurity system developer backed by weapons technology manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, has secured $15m in a series B round led by private equity firm K1 Investment Management.
Founded in 2013, IronScales has built a cloud-based software platform that helps users to detect and respond automatically to sophisticated email phishing attacks using artificial intelligence technology and malicious URL and link detection tools.
The company also provides IronSchool, a training course that helps employees increase their awareness of the nature of malicious email messages.
IronScales raised $1.5m in a 2016 seed round led by RDSeed, a subsidiary of Rafael Development Corporation, Rafael’s technology commercialisation arm, which is part-financed by technology holding company Elron Electronic Industries.
RDSeed subsequently returned for a $6.5m series A round in December 2017 that was led by K1 Investment.
Eyal Benishti, IronScales’ CEO, said: “With our new funding, IronScales is blazing ahead with decentralised communities by encouraging the collective sharing of information through our platform, ultimately proactively preparing against attacks through automatic detection and response.”
