US-based digital publishing company Issuu has received $10m in series B funding from the innovation fund of Japan-based telecommunications company KDDI, KDDI Open Innovation Fund,
The round also featured Sunstone Capital, the venture capital firm that invested $5m in Issuu in 2008. Issuu previously raised $1.3m in seed funding in 2007.
Issuu provides a publishing platform for over 17 million people and has more than 80 million visitors a month.
The additional funding will be used to further develop its Clip product, which allows readers to clip parts of Issuu’s publications and share them on social networks. Part of the funding will also be used to grow its global publisher base.
Sunstone previously invested $5m in 2008, after it had provided $1.25m of seed funding in 2007.
