The corporate venturing units of Japan-based manufacturer Itochu Corporation and SunAmerica, a division of US insurer American International Group, have helped data storage chip company Link_A_Media Devices raise $16m.
Itochu Technology Ventures and SunAmerica Ventures were joined in the series D round by venture firms Keynote Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and several unnamed strategic partners.
The named companies all backed Link_A_Media’s $18m series C round in 2009. The company’s $22m series B round in 2008 was also backed by technology companies NEC Electronics, Micron Technology and Seagate Technology. It is unclear how much the company raised in its series A. The company was founded in 2004.
Link_A_Media provides data storage chips for hard disk drives.
