US-based cloud-based platform ItsOn has raised an undisclosed amount in a second tranche of series C funding from Cisco Investments, the corporate venturing arm of networking technology company Cisco.
Undisclosed investors were also involved.
In April, the company raised $12.5m in its first phase of series C funding from venture capital firm Tenaya Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
ItsOn is a commercial cloud service for mobile phone operators that allows them to simplify business processes and deploy new services. The funding will support sales expansion beyond the US.
ItsOn chief exectuvie Greg Raleigh said, “Cisco is a world leader in core mobile-networking products. ItsOn’s platform and Cisco’s products are complementary, providing potential for market accelerating synergies as mobile operators around the world adopt and deploy virtual network systems. We are excited to welcome Cisco Investments as an investor in our company.”
ItsOn raised $15.5m in series B funding in 2012 from Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel and an investor group led by Jim Davidson.
The company has secured $28 million in seed, series A and series B from investors including Vodafone Ventures, the corporate venturing division of UK-listed mobile phone operator Vodafone and Verizon Investments, an affiliate of Verizon Ventures, the strategic venture capital arm for Verizon.
