Israel-based software development technology provider JFrog has raised $165m in a series D round featuring Dell Technologies Capital, the corporate venture capital vehicle for computing equipment manufacturer Dell.
VC firm Insight Venture Partners led the round, which included Spark Capital, Geodesic Capital, Battery Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, Scale Venture Partners and Vintage Investment Partners. It valued the company at more than $1bn.
Founded in 2008, JFrog has created a universal artifact management platform with more than 5 million users that enables enterprises to manage the automated release of updates to their software easily and efficiently across a range of platforms including connected devices.
The company plans to channel the series D proceeds into geographic expansion and product development.
The round took the total raised by JFrog to $227m, $50m of which came in an early 2016 series C round that included Sapphire Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Battery Ventures, Vintage Investment Partners, Qumra Capital and unnamed existing investors.
Other investors in JFrog include VMware, which contributed to a $7m series B round for the company in 2014 that included Gemini Israel Ventures. Jeff Horing, Insight Venture Partners’ co-founder and managing director, will join its board of directors following the latest round.
