Jikestar stands firm for $14m

China-based coding education provider Jikestar Programming for Children has completed a series A-plus round of about RMB100m ($14m) led by quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group, China Money Network reported on Friday.

Founded in 2016, Jikestar Programming has created a computer programming curriculum for children in grades one-to-six administered both via online livestreaming and offline in “cooperative running” schools, which the Chinese state runs in partnership with foreign education providers.

Jikestar will use the proceeds to develop its curriculum, brand and marketing. Cash will also go to work on an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven student support technology that will log each child’s learning experience and apply data analytics to prescribe personalised learning processes and objectives.

Jikestar reportedly closed a $2.8m series A round in 2018 led by education services provider New Oriental Education and Technology Group, after a pre-series A round of undisclosed size the previous year. It also raised angel and seed sums of undisclosed size in 2017, according to China Money Network.
