Ventus Medical, a US-based maker of medical devices for sleep disorders, has raised $40m in its series D round.
Ventus previously raised $16m in its series C in January 2008.
The company’s website said its investors have been Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, the corporate venturing unit of healthcare company Johnson & Johnson, and venture capital firms Mohr Davidow Ventures and De Novo Ventures.
Ventus’ founder, Rajiv Doshi, was previously a principal at De Novo while teaching at the Stanford University Department of Medicine.
The latest funding round has also seen Ventus replace its executive president as Peter Wyles joined from medical equipment company Bayer Healthcare.
He replaced John McCutcheon, who joined in the same role as president and chief executive in April last year when Jeffrey Nugent was promoted to executive chairman.
