Galen Joneja has been promoted to venture manager at Schlumberger New Energy, the investment division of the US-French global oilfield service conglomerate, Schlumberger.

The move comes after Joneja spent two years as an asset delivery manager, focused particularly on global planning and supply chain.

Joneja’s career at Schlumberger spans nearly 15 years, starting off as a field engineer overseeing the creation of cement engineering programs. He will now focus on new energy-based business start-ups and innovation.

Schlumberger New Energy has been involved in various high-level investments such as Gradient Flows, a water treatment technology developer that in 2021 raised $100m in its series C round. That round was co-led by Schlumberger New Energy, boosting the start-up’s funding to over $200m.

Schlumberger is a $42.434bn corporation that supplies the petroleum industry with services such as cementing stimulation and seismic data processing. It is considered to be the world’s largest offshore drilling company and the biggest offshore drilling contractor in the world.

Concerning his new position, Joneja commented via Linkedin: “I am thrilled to be working with innovative companies to create value in the new energy and clean tech spaces that are helping to evolve the global energy landscape.”
