Comcast Ventures, mass media group Comcast’s corporate venturing arm, has led an $18m funding round for Israel-based smart lighting technology developer Juganu, Globes reported yesterday.
The round was backed by digital communications technology provider Amdocs and venture capital fund Viola Growth Fund. It closed a few weeks ago according to Globes and consisted of $12m in equity funding and $6m in secondary investment.
Juganu has created smart lighting technology that utilises artificial intelligence, sensors and cameras to adapt to their surroundings. The technology is intended for use in smart cities and large retail environments and does not rely on 5G connectivity.
The company has now raised $46m to date, Globes stated. Viola Growth led a $23m round in July 2019 that included OurCrowd and an unnamed Mexico-based investment fund, and Amdocs was described by Globes as an existing investor.
