JXTG Accelerator showcases 2019 contenders

JXTG Group Accelerator, the startup accelerator scheme run by Japan-based industrial, mining and petroleum group JXTG Holdings and incubator 01Booster, remotely held the demo day for its 2019 batch on Tuesday.

The participants were foreign tourist-oriented car rental service DriveJapan, mindfulness program provider Exceliebe, electric micromobility sharing service operator Luup, machine intelligence and robotics startup MI-6 and MountainGorilla, which provides business improvement services.

Formed in 2018, JXTG Group Accelerator concentrates on areas including sustainable energy, mobility, artificial intelligence, the internet of things (IoT) and quantum computing technology. Selected companies will receive mentoring from JXTG specialists and may be eligible to receive funding.

Six finalists were chosen from 121 applications in its first iteration in December 2018, which resulted in four proofs of concepts and a joint research project.

The companies in question were sustainable food and energy producer Agritree, vertical-axis wind turbine developer Challenergy, carbon dioxide-based construction materials producer Kusunoki Sekkai, IoT app building tool supplier Momo, connected battery provider Novars and QunaSys, which is developing quantum computing software and technology.
