Keru Cloud orders up series B

Keru Cloud, a China-based software-as-a-service provider targeting restaurants, has raised RMB 66m ($10.7m) in a series B round co-led by search engine operator Baidu, 36Kr reported on Friday.

Tianxing Capital co-led the round, while Fangjinglin Investment and Kaixing Capital also participated. Baidu previously took part in a $4.5m series A round for Keru in April 2014.

Keru has developed software that enables restaurants to manage reservations, keep track of a queue, take orders and maintain customer loyalty programmes.

The software also facilitates online orders and lets customers see the status of their order, while an attendant web app provides customers with additional information such as menus, discounts and location through online-to-offline portal Baidu Connect and messaging service WeChat.

Keru’s client base includes some 3,000 restaurants across the country. The company plans on increasing its marketshare to 20,000 merchants by the end of this year and will use the fresh funding to expand its client list to include gyms, massage parlours and spas.

Part of the funding will also be used to support product development and hire additional staff for Keru’s sales and operations departments.
