Kibo helps box up $1.5m for iContainers

Spain-based online freight service price aggregator iContainers has raised series B funding from Kibo Ventures, part of telecommunications company Telefónica’s Amerigo venture capital network, and VC fund Vitamina K, Hemerotek has reported.

Investment information provider Datafox stated the round comprised €1.3m ($1.5m) in capital, and that it was led by Kibo.

Founded in 2008, iCountainers offers instant quotes, booking worldwide and logistics assistance. It will use the money to develop its newly launched door-to-door ocean freight services for imports, exports and overseas moves between the US and Spain.

Carlos Hernandez, founder of iContainers, said: “This new online service is much like what FedEx does with letters and packages. We can ship from any zip code in the US to any zip code in Spain, something no other company in the industry can do online.”

The round followed about €700,000 in funding raised by iContainers from logistics service provider Grupo Romeu, Octapris Investments and Compass Private Equity, according to Novobrief.
