Kickstart Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of Globe Telecom (itself backed by SingTel and Ayala), is joining forces with Australia online venture incubator Pollenizer to take advantage of gaps in the Philippine consumer services market.
In a recent interview Phil Morle, Pollenizer co-founder and chief executive officer, said that there is a good standard of entrepreneurship in the Philippines and many problem solving ventures that have yet to be tapped there.
The incubators will be looking to back engineers, namely in the web application framework areas, such as those with experience in Ruby on Rails or CakePHP. They are also looking for product managers and sales people.
Areas that could use disruptive technologies and services include real estate listings, e-commerce, remittance, Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) placement, education, and healthcare.
