Albert Kim has been appointed to lead Samsung Ventures America – the Americas investment division of Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung’s corporate VC group, Samsung Ventures Investment Corporation (SVIC).
His appointment comes after a decade at the helm of Ericsson Ventures, the CVC of telecommunications company Ericsson.
SVIC is stage-agnostic, investing anywhere from early stage to pre-IPO, focusing on areas like artificial intelligence and machine learning, semiconductors, telecommunication, software, internet technology, digital health, fintech, insurtech, biotechnology, energy storage, display, climate, sustainability and more.
The unit’s recent investments include AI technology company Anthropic, generative AI compute provider d-Matrix, humanoid robotics company Figure.ai, and data security technology provider Dig Security. The unit’s past exits also include endpoint security company SentinelOne, silicon services company Verisilicon, and display technology provider Raxium.
Before he led Ericsson Ventures, Kim served a 12-year stint as managing director at Investor Growth Capital, the VC arm of Swedish investment firm Investor AB.
