US-based web application (app) developer Fuhu closed a series C round of funding worth $15m on Wednesday. The round was led by Taiwan-based electronics manufacturing conglomerate Foxconn Technology Group with participation by Kingston Digital, the Flash memory affiliate of the US-based computer memory Kingston Technology Company.
Fuhu secured $6.3m in series B financing from computer hardware manufacturer Acer, in May 2009, at the same time as it signed a contract to distribute Fuhu products in its hardware.
Corporate investors in Fuhu go back to its series A round, which raised $1.5m from investors including UMC Capital, the corporate venturing division of semiconductor foundry UMC, hardware manufacturer VIA Technologies, telecommunications company Alorica and the Industrial Bank of Taiwan, in 2008.
Fuhu aims to improve online users’ access to their personal content through a range of web widgets and apps. Its best known product is Fooz Kids, a web 2.0 app which enables children to create their own parent-monitored content.
