Kolada to find meaning in OpenText

Canada-based enterprise software provider OpenText has hired David Harris Kolada from state-backed fund Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) to manage its corporate venturing investments.

OpenText provides IT management software for businesses. Kolada has taken a vice president role at the company and will oversee its venture capital activities including investments in funds-of-funds.

As of last year, OpenText was in the process of raising $100m for its OpenText Enterprise Applications Fund, though no official close has since been announced for the fund. It did however lead the $26.3m round closed by digital content marketing company ScribbleLive last month.

OpenText was among the limited partners for the $154m Kensington Venture Fund, which closed in June this year, and has also contributed to the Teralys Capital Innovation Fund.

Kolada spent seven years from 2008 at cleantech-focused fund SDTC as its vice president of alliances and market development.

Prior to SDTC, he spent time at business management software provider Cognos, where he was senior director of strategic investment, marketing software producer Eloqua, where he acted as senior vice president of corporate development, and airline business management company Airline Intelligence Systems, where he was chief financial and strategy officer.
