Kr Space to expand with new funding

Kr Space, the co-working space provider formed by China-based technology, media and entrepreneurial services provider 36Kr, has raised RMB600m ($94.7m) in funding from unnamed investors.

A press release from the company announcing the funding revealed that the round closed at some point last month without offering additional details.

36Kr spun out Kr Space in early 2016 to operate a network of 30 co-working spaces across nine Chinese cities. Kr Space has a total of 20,000 users across its spaces.

The company has added approximately 120,000 square metres of office space during the past three months and expects to add another 300,000 square metres across China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and other international locations by the end of 2018.

Kr Space initially received an undisclosed amount in a series A round led by Colony New Yangtze Fund, with participation from Unity Ventures, Gobi Partners and a private investor identified as Fenglun.

The company then added $30m in a late 2016 series A+ round co-led by Prometheus Capital and IDG Capital, before China Minsheng and IDG Capital supplied an undisclosed amount in another series A+ round, in July 2017.

IDG Capital had reportedly invested $15m in Kr Space in September 2017, though it is unclear whether those funds formed part of the latest round.
