David Krane has been promoted from general partner to managing director at Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet company Google.
In his new role Krane will co-manage the fund, after participating in investments in a wide spectrum of start-ups including taxi ordering app Uber, crowdfunding website CircleUp and smart thermostat maker Nest.
Krane has spent nearly 15 years at Google, having joined as director of global communications and public affairs in 2000 and overseeing the company’s worldwide communications programme.
Prior to joining Google, Krane spent time at computing company Apple, wireless technology producer Qualcomm, Four11, the email service that eventually became Yahoo Mail, and two additional cybersecurity companies.
