Kurita curates $11m round for Apana

Apana, a US-based developer of water management software, has completed an $11m series B round led by water treatment services provider Kurita Water Industries.

The round included media company Cowles Company, venture capital fund Urban Innovation Fund and E8 Fund, the investment arm of angel network Element 8, also participated in the round. All three had joined Kurita for Apana’s $3.5m series A round in January 2017.

Apana has built an internet-of-things software platform used for water management by large businesses, public facilities and cities.

Matt Rose, co-founder and chief executive of Apana, said: “Facility operators and property managers use the platform to avoid costs, protect assets and eliminate waste across the built environment.”

Michiya Kadota, president and representative director with Kurita, added: “With Apana, we are excited to leverage digitisation and other new technologies to further increase sustainability while creating value for our customers, our shareholders and the society at large.”
