Ceramics producer Kyocera closed its acquisition of SLD Laser, a US-based developer of laser light source technology, yesterday, enabling electronics manufacturer TDK to exit.
Founded in 2013, SLD Laser provides gallium nitride-based laser light sources for use in the automotive, consumer and specialty lighting spaces. It is being rebranded Kyocera SLD Laser now the deal has gone through.
The size of the transaction, originally revealed in November 2020, was not disclosed. SLD Laser had raised an undisclosed amount from TDK’s corporate venturing unit, TDK Ventures, in January 2020.
