Nicole LeBlanc has been hired as a partner by Woven Capital, the corporate venturing fund of Japan-based automotive manufacturer Toyota.
“Nicole is a dynamic and creative problem solver with extensive experience working with visionary entrepreneurs,” George Kellerman, the managing director of Woven Capital, told Global Corporate Venturing.
“She has deep expertise in urban technology and sustainability, areas that are increasingly intersecting as the need for useful mobility solutions continues to grow.
“Her skills will be invaluable as we expand our investments in the next generation of life-changing mobility technologies and build our global portfolio. I look forward to working with her.”
Prior to her current position, LeBlanc served two years as a partner at Denmark-based venture capital group 2150, which invests in sustainable and environmentally friendly startups and technologies.
Formed in 2021, Woven Capital is an $800m investment arm of Woven Planet Group, the innovation subsidiary of Toyota. The unit backs growth-stage companies that develop innovative technologies in sectors such as IT and mobility. It has also made a limited partner commitment to UP.Partners’ $230m fund in October 2021.
“I have worked with startups that are harnessing technology to improve sustainability and make the world a better place throughout my career,” LeBlanc told GCV. “I believe in Woven Capital’s mission, and I am thrilled to join George and the team as we continue working with entrepreneurs and innovators to develop groundbreaking technologies that will enrich the lives of people across the globe.”
