Isa Fuhrmann-Breitholtz, who was part of Lego Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Danish toy manufacturer Lego Group, has launched an alternative investment firm called South Bay.

Headquartered in Sweden, South Bay will focus on real estate technology developers in the Nordic region. Fuhrmann-Breitholtz serves as a managing partner at the firm.

“Homed in Stockholm, South Bay will specialise in investments that lead to meaningful transformation and tangible difference with a diverse investment strategy covering entrepreneurial early-stage companies as well as innovative real estate,” said Fuhrmann-Breitholtz in a LinkedIn post.

Fuhrmann-Breitholtz spent nearly eight years at Lego Group from 2012 in a range of executive roles including strategy office duties and a chief of staff position. He became head of strategy and new ventures at Lego Brand Group in 2017, a year before Lego Ventures was launched.

After Lego Ventures was formed in 2018, Fuhrmann-Breitholtz relocated to California and led the Silicon Valley Hub for the unit until 2020.

Parin Shah was eventually appointed head of Lego Ventures, first in an interim capacity in October 2022, when the unit announced deeper integration with Lego Group’s parent firm, Kirk Kristiansen’s family office, Kirkbi. The group targets gaming, edtech and climate technology developers.
