Life House lifts veil on $40m in funding

US-based hotel operator Life House has received $40m in equity and debt financing from investors including Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing vehicle for mass media group Comcast, Skift has reported.

Comcast Ventures led a seed round of undisclosed size that, together with a February 2016 series A led by Global Founders Capital, totalled $10m. VC firm Trinity Ventures was also among the investors in either or both rounds, according to Skift.

The company subsequently raised $30m in a private equity and debt round led by private equity real estate firm Henley.

Life House operates hotel properties marketed towards travellers looking to socialise, and also provides services including a matchmaking facility for shared rooms and meet-and-greet sessions before customers access pre-booked accommodation.

The company currently runs two properties in Miami and has plans to launch an upmarket New York hotel in early 2019 as part of an ongoing expansion drive, all of which are set to operate under its branding.
