LivingSocial, a US-based discount coupon company backed by online retailer Amazon, has bought consultant InfoEther even as news provider Wall Street Journal said the acquirer was looking to raise $400m to $500m from investors.
InfoEther is a technology consultancy specialising in the open source Ruby software development language and its related web development framework, Ruby on Rails, which is the basis of the technology upon which LivingSocial is based.
LivingSocial has raised about $210m, including $175m from Amazon late last year.
