LotusFlare, a US-based startup developing technology that will make the internet more accessible, has secured $6m in series A funding from investors including internet company Google.
Google, which invested through its Google Ventures unit, was joined by Social + Capital Partnership, which led the round, and Metamorphic Ventures. Google Ventures and Metamorphic also took part in the company’s $4m seed round in 2014.
Founded in June 2014, LotusFlare has developed an app for use in emerging markets, informing mobile users how much data they are using and suggests ways to source it cheaper. The cash will support the scaling of its business and an expansion into new markets.
