Daniel Malandrin has left Brazil-based financial services firm Bradesco and its corporate venture capital arm, InovaBra Ventures, and joined big data technology provider Semantix Brasil.
Bradesco hired Malandrin in 2005, and he performed investment banking duties for eight years before shifting to vice-president of private equity and venture capital role in 2013. He helped launch the R$200m ($50m) InovaBra Ventures vehicle the following year and managed the unit as its head.
Global Corporate Venturing selected Malandrin as a Rising Star in 2017 and he featured in GCV Emerging Leaders’ inaugural list in January 2020. In addition to facilitating mergers and acquisitions, he sat on the boards of InovaBra portfolio companies including Semantix itself, Agrosmart and R3.
Founded in 2010, Semantix provides consulting and training services geared towards artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, big data and the internet of things. It has appointed Malandrin managing director and head of corporate development, and he will oversee M&A deals and partnerships.
Malandrin will also help set up and lead a corporate venturing subsidiary called Semantix Ventures. The unit will invest in developers of AI and big data technologies aimed at the financial, healthcare, industry 4.0, legal and logistics sectors.
