Mantis Vision views growth after $12.5m funding

Mantis Vision, an Israel-based company that is working to bring 3D technologies to mobile devices, has closed a $12.5m funding round with investments from several corporates.

The backers were Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of wireless telecommunications company Qualcomm, Samsung Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of conglomerate Samsung, optical device maker Sunny Optical Technology and supply chain manufacturer Flextronic’s investment arm, Lab IX.

Mantis develops technology that enables companies to incorporate 3D-ready screens into their products, and to code 3D user interfaces with its software development kits and app programming interface.

The company has also created handheld 3D scanners for use in fields including medicine, defence and law enforcement.

“Our mission is to bring 3D to the masses, allowing users to create their own 3D content with ease,” said Amihai Loven, chief executive of Mantis Vision. “This strategic investment offers us the flexibility to expand quickly and strategically, as well as fuel adoption and engagement directly with consumer audiences worldwide.”
