Fast-moving consumer goods supplier Marico has bought India-based men’s grooming product brand Beardo, paying an undisclosed sum for the 55% stake it did not already own, YourStory reported yesterday.
Formerly known as Zed Lifestyle, Beardo produces facial hair oils, waxes, balms and skincare products catered to men. Marico acquired the company in a bid to expand its presence in the male grooming space.
The corporate paid an undisclosed sum for a 45% stake in Beardo in 2017, the year after venture capital firm Venture Catalyst and undisclosed additional investors had provided $500,000 in funding for the company.
Beardo’s other exiting investors include Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty. It had recently hired another actor, Hrithik Roshan, as a brand ambassador.
