MarkMonitor, a US-based brand protection company backed by commodities group Cargill’s corporate venturing unit, has acquired Danish anti-piracy company DtecNet Software for an undisclosed sum.
In May 2006, MarkMonitor raised $12m from a consortium led by Cargill Ventures, which has subsequently become part of Black River Asset Management, an independently managed subsidiary of Cargill, and including venture capital firms Focus Ventures, Foundation Capital and Institutional Venture Partners.
In December 2003 MarkMonitor raised $22m in its series C round, having previously raised $7m the year before.
