Masabi, a UK-based mobile ticketing service for transport, has raised $2.8m from venture capital firms, including Fontinalis Partners, which was founded by the chairman of car maker Ford and acts as its “eyes and ears” into start-ups.
The other investors are VC peers MMC Ventures and M8 Capital, which had invested $4m in November 2011.
Separately, Fontinalis, led by Bill Ford, has also backed Nano-C, a US-based developer of nanostructured carbon for use in energy and electronics applications.
