Matterport prints $4m

Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous chip maker, has invested in a $4m round of funding for US-based Matterport, as reported on bizjournals.

Matterport is a Y Combinator startup that creates three-dimensional (3D) scans. The funds came from 39 investors according to a recent filing, including venture capital firms Felicis Ventures, Red Swan, Greylock Partners and Navitas Capital

Sundeep Peechu of Felicis and David Eisenberg of Red Swan are directors at the company.

Matterpoint was founded by former Google chief executive Matt Bel, PayPal engineer and former Chief Technology Officer David Gausebeck and former SRI chief operating officer Mike Beebe.

Bell said: “We are in a beta program right now and this funding will allow us to complete the new version later this year”.

YCombinator is an incubator programme.
