Matterport, a US-based provider of three-dimension images of spaces and objects, has raised $5.6m in its series A round from a consortium including US-listed chip companies AMD and Qualcomm’s eponymous corporate venturing units.
Alongside Qualcomm Ventures and AMD Ventures in the A round were venture capital firms Lux Capital, Felicis Ventures, Red Swan Ventures and Greylock Partners and angel investors.
Founded in 2011, the Silicon Valley-based company launched out of Y Combinator and raised a $1.6m seed financing in 2012 to develop initial versions of the camera hardware and software.
Peter Hebert, managing partner of Lux Capital, said: “Using advanced hardware and algorithms, Matterport helps consumers and businesses create accurate, photo-realistic 3D models – quickly, easily and automatically. Beyond initial markets in housing and interiors, the range of end applications is bounded only by the creativity of the Matterport community.”
