McGraw-Hill and Pearson get an Inkling

Inkling, the maker of interactive learning applications for Apple’s iPad electronic device, has raised an undisclosed amount from publishers McGraw-Hill and Pearson.

Matt MacInnis, founder and chief executive of Inkling, said: "McGraw-Hill and Pearson, two of the largest educational content providers in the world, have invested in Inkling, signaling a strong endorsement of our approach, our technology and, most of all, our team."

As well as money, he said the two would give content from the top 100 undergraduate titles from McGraw-Hill Higher Education and undergraduate titles from Pearson Education; medical reference titles from McGraw-Hill Professional and a full medical education curriculum from Wolters Kluwer Health; and a full MBA curriculum from Pearson Education.

In August, a year after launch, Inkling raised its series A round from venture capital firms Sequoia Capital, Kapor Capital, Felicis Ventures and Sherpalo Ventures participated in the funding round. Specifics were not publicized.
