McKesson Ventures, the strategic investment arm of pharmaceuticals distributor McKesson, has promoted Jennifer Carter and Carrie Hurwitz Williams to partner positions in the unit.
Formed in 2014, McKesson Ventures has since built a portfolio including Grail, the liquid biopsy developer that could reportedly be bought by Illumina for $8bn, and Amwell, the telehealth platform developer that priced a $742m initial public offering yesterday.
Carter had been McKesson’s director of marketing communications before she joined the unit in 2015 as vice-president of portfolio development and marketing, helping to find synergy between the corporate and its portfolio companies. She added the role of vice-president of venture operations in September 2019.
Williams had a five-year stint at McKesson that ended when she moved to digital care provider Omada Health in 2014. She rose to vice-president of strategy and business development before she was hired by McKesson Ventures as a principal in 2017.
The moves come roughly three months after managing director Dave Schulte was promoted to head McKesson Ventures.
