Local services portal operator Meituan Dianping supplied more than $15m in series B funding yesterday for Pudu Robotics, the China-based developer of an indoor goods delivery robot.
Pudu produces robots that carry goods to their intended recipient within indoor settings such as hotels, offices and karaoke bars. They are used by customers in more than 20 countries and include a dish-returning robot and two food delivery machines, all for use in kitchens.
The series B cash will fund product development and sales, helping the company expand into overseas markets. Meituan Dianping and Pudu will explore the possible development of robots to support sectors aligning with the corporate’s app, such as food delivery and retail.
Pudu had previously secured $7.8m in a June 2018 series A round, two years after raising an undisclosed amount from angel investors.
