Mesmer dazzles Intel for series A

US-based robotics process automation developer Mesmer launched out of stealth yesterday with a $15m series A round led by chipmaker Intel’s corporate venturing subsidiary, Intel Capital.

Venture capital True Ventures also took part in the series A round.

Mesmer has created a cloud-based platform that relies on artificial intelligence-powered bots to automate the debugging process of mobile apps and ensure applications offer a good user experience. The process usually requires manual labour and takes a long time.

The company’s Deep Learning Automation technology relies on computer vision, natural language processing and path planning models, shortening the testing process from up to 10 days to approximately half an hour.

The series A capital will allow Mesmer to market its product. The company previously obtained $4m in seed funding from True Ventures in 2017.

Nick Washburn, senior managing director of Intel Capital, said: “Customer experience testing is a universal pain point for developers, and Mesmer – without a marketing or sales team – has been able to demonstrate a clear return on investment to a diverse and growing base of enterprise customers.

“Using artificial intelligence for this task is disruptive, and we look forward to working with the team to address this growing need in the industry.”
