China-based mobile app technology developer MetaApp has received $100m in a series C round led by SIG China, an investment vehicle for quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group, DealStreetAsia has reported.
Venture capital firms Sky9 Capital and China Creation Ventures also participated in the round.
Founded in 2016, MetaApp has developed a sandbox technology platform which is compatible with 2 million video games and applications and which enables users to open mobile apps without downloading or installing.
A significant portion of the series C funding will be used to build an internet community platform that will allow users to experience a virtual world.
Sen Hu, founder of MetaApp, said the company is also looking to strengthen its pool of talent. He was the founding CEO of Zhangyu Live, the sports livestreaming platform acquired by video streaming service provider LeTV for approximately $48m in 2015.
China Creation Ventures had already participated in series A and series B rounds of undisclosed size for MetaApp in 2018, according to DealStreetAsia.
