Mukund Mohan, director of Microsoft Ventures in India, is set to take over the unit’s US and Chinese operations, the Business Standard has reported.
Mohan first joined US-based computing company Microsoft as a CEO in residence for the Microsoft Accelerator in 2012 before becoming a director at Microsoft Ventures a year later, and has now been appointed to head US, China and India operations at Microsoft Ventures. He will relocate to the company’s global headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
Microsoft operates nine accelerators and three offices across the US, UK, Brazil, France, Germany, Israel, China, India and Russia. The company will split Mohan’s current role at Microsoft Ventures India between Ravi Narayan and Rajnish Menon, both of whom are currently directors at Microsoft Ventures.
Microsoft Ventures’ accelerator focuses on companies around smart cloud services, mobile applications, urban informatics and big data, internet of things and wearable computing. In India it has so far incubated around 60 companies, of which around 82% have raised funding, while two of the startups have been acquired.
