Microsoft Russia Seed Fund backs Appercode and Xgencloud

US software company Microsoft’s Russia Seed Fund has granted $60,000 to IT startup Appercode, which provides a solution that would enable application developers and systems integrators to create .NET/C#-based cross-platform mobile apps.

Biomedical startup Xgencloud was given two separate grants from the Fund. In addition to $40,000 in monetary backing, it has been given access to $60,000 worth of Windows Azure-based cloud services.  The IT-enabled system is designed to facilitate early diagnosis of one’s hereditary susceptibility to serious diseases.

Set up in December 2010, the Microsoft Seed Fund has supported more than 30 Russian startups so far and hopes to back another 70 in the next eight years.
